Christmas Island Lodge Community conservation foundation

The CILCCF Mission

Christmas Island Lodge is dedicated to giving back to the local Kiritimati community through the implementation of conservation initiatives, continuing education programs, charitable donations and acts as a conduit between CIL guests, conservation partners and the local Kiritimati people.

Many CIL guests inquire as to what items they might bring to donate to the local children of Christmas Island. Items in greatest need include:

  • Basic school supplies
  • Notebooks, flashcards, pencils,      markers, crayons, school bags, coloring books, puzzles, colored chalk
  • Basic school/ instructional books      and workbooks: math, reading, science, (elementary level K-6)

Workbooks available at Walmart or on Amazon

  • English learning books
  • Kids size shoes
  • Every day OTC meds: aspirin,      anti-diarrheals, ALBUTEROL inhalers
  • BASIC VITAMINS- kid’s gummies (also      for adults)
  • Please avoid gifts that require      batteries or other expensive/difficult to replace supplies

Many of these items can be found online or purchased at the Walmart in Honolulu at 700 Ke’eaumoku St, Honolulu, HI 96814. Walmart’s phone number is 808-955-8441. With a short cab ride and 20 minutes of shopping, guests truly have the opportunity to make a difference!

Additionally, many CIL guests inquire as to what items they might bring to benefit our Fishing Guide Staff. Though Christmas Island Lodge continuously invests in our guides in both equipment and training, items in greatest need include:

· Polarized sunglasses

· Wading boots (no booties please) in sizes 12-14

· Fly tying material

· Fly tying vices

· Fly rods, reels, lines and terminal tackle for personal use

· Flyfishing-related books

· Fishing backpacks, sling packs or lumbar packs for personal use
