Dorothy serves the important role of Lodge Manager and brings her unforgettable smile and positive attitude to the lodge each and every day. Dorothy is in charge of all things Christmas Island Lodge and is your go-to for any assistance or special requests while on-atoll. Dorothy originally hails from Kiritimati and is proud to represent CIL to our visiting guests.
Tyler acts as the International Host at Christmas Island Lodge. Ty has an impressive resume working most recently at the famous Argentinian golden dorado outpost, Pira Lodge. Ty has also worked in the flyfishing industry in Chile, the United States, Himalayan Bhutan and Mexico. Ty oversees daily operations and guest requests for CIL.
Otea, a native of Kiribati and schooled long ago in Kirabati's capitol, Tarawa, serves as the Head Fishing Guide for CIL. Otea's knowledge of the local target species and fisheries of Christmas Island is second to none. Otea is truly a gifted guide with eyesight and the ability to spot fish at great distances to match. Otea began in 1994 and is highly respected among the island's guide community.
David brings energy and attention to detail to every day on the flats. His ability to spot fish even in cloudy water is truly remarkable. David has a quick wit and is a pleasure to spend a day with on Kiritimati's endless expanses in search bonefish, trevally and more.
Ari is one of the most regularly requested guides on the CIL Guide Staff and her infectious laugh can be heard from one end of the Inner Lagoon to the other. Her smile and positive attitude are unforgettable and her ability to spot fish at long distances, even on cloudy days, is remarkable. All who join Ari on the flats are lucky indeed!
Witori began his Kiritimati guiding career in 2018 and is eager to help CIL guests experience the vast hard sand flats of the inner lagoon, the coral shores of the Huff Dam and the inner reef of the Korean Wreck with equal expertise. Witori is sure to add big smiles to any angler's visit.
Carlos has a natural gift of making people laugh and is an exceptional leader among the Christmas Island Lodge guidestaff. Born and raised in the local village of Banana, Carlos has worked internationally and brings his passion for guiding to the flats every single day. Carlos will host you for an angling trip you will never forget!
Rotati (pronounced Roh-tahs) is one of the most talented guides on the island. Soft-spoken in nature but possessing laser-sharp vision, Rotati has the uncanny ability to see fish in even the toughest of low-light conditions. As diligent and hard working as they come, Rotati is superb company during your day of angling.
Monte's calm and cool demeanor make even the most exciting moments of chasing bonefish, GTs and triggerfish a low-pressure experience. His ability to spot fish in marginal weather conditions is a true gift and Monte is as dependable as a guide can be! Monte provides another solid apsect to the CIL guidestaff and is true professional.
Tenny is a second generation Kiritimati flyfishing guide and, like his father before him, has a natural gift of spotting and identifying fish in even the most challenging sighting conditions. A flyfisherman from a young age, Tenny's laugh will lighten up your day every time you share the flats with him.
Taco is a stalwart member of the Christmas Island Lodge guidestaff. His naturally calming nature is a wonderful attribute and serves his guests very well when the pressure is on to make a tough presentation. Taco is unflappable and has a bright future in leading his anglers to their fish of a lifetime.
TK loves nothing more than sharing his passion for guiding his guests to unforgettable flats fishing memories. Like all of the Christmas Island Lodge guidestaff, TK thrives on guiding his anglers to productive fishing at the Inner Lagoon, Huff Dam and Korean Wreck among other less-known island locations.
Our Assistant Guide Staff is a selection of the most promising up-and-coming guides from across Kiritimati. As CIL looks to the future, our hopes and dreams rest on the shoulders of these fine young men and their passion for guiding guests to the angling adventure of a lifetime.
